It's great.
I'm certainly better at it that I was a tanker at Dust. It's honestly beautiful when you put an HEAT shell into a Sherman's gun Mantlet through his front left mantlet plating or detonate an ISU-122's ammo stores with a well placed AP shell from 750m.

That depends on your shot placement, type of shell used, distance, angle of armour, armour face, and players investments into their crewmen.
Yeah I've had battles where I've knocked out tanks or been knocked out with a well placed shot to the side armour, or if a shell penetrates and kills a crewman, or detonates and ammunition store. But I've also had battles where my Tiger H1 has bounced shot after shot from 3 tanks, repaired it's damage, and was pulled to safety by an allied tank having taken down a few of the enemies while immobilised.
The thing about War Thunder is that is is so much more about your knowledge of the enemy, positioning, and target acquisition.
OHKO's are just a part of the territory and usually are the mark of a well placed shot with the correct ammo type against the correct section of your hull.
E.G- over the weekend I was driving my Sherman M4A1 in a Single Point Domination on the Poland Map. I usually like to take up a position in the Sherman over looking the township from the small Hamlet outside the main conflict zone. This lets me cover all of the high ground of the hillside and the main street leading to the capture point.
I got caught in a fight against another Sherman at maybe 60m where all shots would likely penetrate side or rear armour. He shot first. Usually this conveys a significant advantage as it is one more chance to penetrate armour at close range.
This tank has wedged himself between a small stone building and store house with heavy foliage in front of him. A perfect position as I could neither flank him for a side shot or see his forward plating so there was no chance to target his frontal machine gunner.
Fortunately for me I'd done a quick X-Ray on the Sherman's armour and had noted why I seemed to die a lot from Gun Mantlet penetrations. The armour on the front right on the Mantlet was the thinnest on the tank meaning I could take out his main gunner.
I put two shots into that place and was rewarded with the kill. Since his flaming wreckage was stuck there I was able to take a position across the road on the other side of the buildings with hard cover against the city below and had clear fire across the wooded hill top where Tank Destroyers usually like to sit and was able to pick off a Pzkw III short barrel 75mm and a Stug III before I was immobilized and destroyed by a T-34 L-11.

I am liking the Light Tanks, they make me think I might be practicing for Minmatar tanks.
Doin' donuts critting reddots. i keep telling myself the same thing except the other way around, i need to try out tanks. the nice thing is there is no infantry players instructing the devs on how to balance the vehicles.. Well, I am one of those Infantry guys trying to have an impact on Vehicles (mainly because once we get Racial Parity among them, I'll be using them more often). I am really liking the light tank blitzkrieg tactics, zoom in, blow up some ****, flee quickly. I've tried Mediums (Sherman M4 and M4A1) and while I do like the increased firepower, I am not really a fan of the mobility or rather lack thereof.
Light tanks are cool and if you like them work into the Walker Bulldog in the American Tree as it's the fastest tank at around 74kmph and has Sabot Rounds for amazing armour penetration at close range.
The only down side to Light Tanks is that at higher tiers everything and their mother penetrates their armour for OHKO, especially the ISU-122, Tiger H1, and the KV-11. I'm into the Medium and Heavy Tanks focusing on my Tiger II and working into the American T-26 Pershing as more are released on the PS4.
